blue square dot PET SOUNDS 60TH RELEASES
Pet Sounds Sessions Highlights coverCapitol/UMe is honoring the 60th anniversary of The Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds album with a series of releases on May 15, 2026. Vinyl audiophile pressings include a 2-LP version with the original album in stereo and mono and a 1-LP zoetrope version. Another set, The Pet Sounds Sessions Highlights, is compiled from 1997’s The Pet Sounds Sessions box set. This collection includes 25 alternate takes, a cappellas, and tracking sessions in 2-CD and 2-LP formats (black and splatter vinyl options), with new liner notes. A digital version of the full Pet Sounds Sessions is also part of the release program. Digital 3-song EPs of “Sloop John B” and “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” are now streaming, as well as the full Pet Sounds album accompanied by footage of animals from the San Diego Zoo. More. blue square dot MIKE LOVE LEADING MEDITATION SESSION AT “BEACH BOYS 5K” RACE
Mike Love will be in Santa Monica for the Beach Boys 5K & Wellness Day on May 16, 2026. He will lead a special pre-race meditation at the start line, to bring a moment of mindfulness and intention to kick off the day’s festivities. While none of The Beach Boys are scheduled to perform at the celebration, their music will be celebrated throughout the festival’s programming. More information. (updated 4-17-26)

blue square dot NEW RELEASES FROM BB BAND MEMBERS
Christian Love - That Sound Two members of The Beach Boys’ supporting band have released new music product. Current touring band member Christian Love has a new single called “That Sound.” The song’s funky beat blends classic rock styles with a modern sound. Christian will support his single with solo shows on May 9, 2026 at The Reveler (3 p.m.) in Richmond, VA and May 10 at The Beacon Theatre in Hopewell, VA. Adrian Baker, longtime former Beach Boys Band member, has released the 50th Anniversary Edition of his 1975 debut, Into a Dream, with seven bonus tracks. blue square dot BRUCE JOHNSTON RETIRES FROM TOURING
Rolling Stone reports that Bruce Johnston has retired from the Beach Boys tour he shared with Mike Love. He plans to make occasional guest appearances with Mike, but will also focus on creating new music and possible speaking appearances. Bruce told Rolling Stone: “I am excited to join the [touring] Beach Boys for performances on special occasions and will see everyone at The Hollywood Bowl as we celebrate our Nation’s 250th Birthday!! ... This isn’t goodbye, it’s see you soon. I am forever grateful to be a part of The Beach Boys’ musical legacy.” (updated 3-4-26)

We Gotta Groove box set coverA new Beach Boys box set, We Gotta Groove: The Brother Studio Years, explores 1976-77 Brian Wilson-penned and produced sessions at Brother Studio through a trove of unheard outtakes, alternate mixes, instrumentals, demos, and more. The six-disc (3-CD and 3-LP), 73-track collection includes the newly remastered Love You album, unreleased songs from 15 Big Ones sessions, and the first official release of the mythical Adult/Child sessions. This compilation also includes extensive liner notes detailing the Brother Studio era, along with beautiful, never-before-seen photos. A digital version will also be available. Brian Wilson: On Tour 1999–2007 blue square dot BRIAN WILSON RECORD STORE DAY LP RELEASES
Two limited-edition albums by Brian Wilson are being released on vinyl for Record Store Day, April 18, 2026. On Tour 1999–2007, a new compilation from Oglio Entertainment, gathers performances from US and London venues across Brian's solo career. Songs performed include selections from Brian's solo albums, Beach Boys songs, and covers of personal favorites. Only 2,000 copies will be available, only from independent record stores. Brian's Imagination album will also be released on vinyl for the first time, on Rhino Records. This LP release is limited to 3,500 copies. (updated 2-4-26)

BB 5K & Wellness Day graphicThe inaugural Beach Boys 5K & Wellness Day will be held in the heart of Santa Monica on the 3rd Street Promenade on May 16, 2026. Commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds album, the event combines a wellness-and-pet-themed festival featuring live music and fitness experiences, including a community 5K run / walk along Ocean Ave., a pooch run, wellness activities, and a beer garden, all open to the public. David Beard has written a new book on The Beach Boys, to be published in June from Bloomsbury Academic. All Summer Long: Conversations with The Beach Boys from “Surfin’” to Smile presents an in-depth exploration of the BBs’ incredible output during their early to peak years, from 1961 to 1967, with interwoven recollections by group members, family, friends, and musical colleagues.
