MIKE LOVE RELEASES “PISCES BROTHERS” ONLINE
Mike Love recently released a tribute to George Harrison, titled “Pisces Brothers.” The song is inspired by the time Mike and George spent in Riskikesh, India with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in early 1968. Read Mike's article about the release (with link to “Pisces Brothers”). (updated 2/25/13)

THE BIG BEAT 1963 DIGITAL RELEASE
Capitol Records is releasing The Big Beat 1963, a compilation of archival Beach Boys tracks and Brian Wilson productions for other acts. Consisting of mostly previously-unreleased rarities, this collection of early material will be a digital-only release, available December 17, 2013. More. (updated 12/11/13)
ANOTHER NEW BB GRANDSON

WILSON BROTHERS BIOPICS UPDATES
Production has been officially cancelled on the Dennis Wilson biopic, The Drummer. Brian Wilson's biopic, Love & Mercy, starring John Cusack (as older Brian), Paul Dano (as younger Brian), Elizabeth Banks, and Paul Giamatti, has wrapped shooting and is in post-production. Mark Linnet also makes an appearance, in a nod to his predecessor Chuck Britz. (12/12/13)
BRIAN WILSON & JEFF BECK
Brian Wilson is recording a new album, featuring guitar legend Jeff Beck, and special appearances by Alan Jardine and David Marks. The foursome has also announced a fall tour together. Former BB Blondie Chaplin is the most recent special guest to join them in recording at Ocean Way and will be joining the tour on select dates. Wilson and Beck will be making an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, on Thursday, October 10 at 12:35 a.m. on NBC TV. (updated 10/3/13)
MADE IN CALIFORNIA CD BOX SET
The Beach Boys' Made in California, a career-spanning box set, was released on August 27, 2013. This 6-CD set includes previously unreleased and long sought-after tracks, including “Goin' to the Beach,” “California Feelin',” “Soul Searchin',” “You're Still a Mystery,” “(Wouldn't It Be Nice To) Live Again,” and more. The set also debuts 17 unreleased live recordings, dating from 1965-95, including “Wendy” live in a BBC studio from 1964, an early '70s version of “Help Me Rhonda” with Dennis Wilson on lead, “Only With You” live 1972, and “Wild Honey (New Jersey 1972)” with Blondie Chaplin on lead vocal. MIC CONTESTS
Capitol Records and Tongal are sponsoring two crowd-sourced projects in conjunction with MIC's upcoming release. One is for a fan-made video for “California Feelin',” with cash prize awards. The second is for fans to record and submit a guitar solo for “Goin' to the Beach.” The grand-prize winner will receive a MIC-branded Fender Stratocaster guitar and other goodies from Capitol and Fender. Rock Cellar Magazine, September 2013 issue is devoted to The Beach Boys, with lots of intriguing interviews, in conjunction with the release of the Made in California box set. UK magazine Record Collector has a cover story on the BBs in their Sept. issue. Endless Summer Quarterly's Fall 2013 issue is coming out soon. (8/19/13)
BBs IN CONCERT BOOK
Ian Rustin and Jon Stebbins have compiled the most comprehensive study of the Beach Boys on tour, to date. The Beach Boys in Concert: The Ultimate History of American's Band on Tour and Onstage is lavishly presented in a 400+ page, heavily illustrated, informative hard-bound book. (8/9/13)

“GIVE PEACE A CHANCE”
Al Jardine and Sean Lennon have recorded a mostly a capella remake of John Lennon's anthem, “Give Peace a Chance” for Bono's ONE project. Al also recorded a new version of “If I Had a Hammer” with Richard Barone. Watch the video here. (updated 6/12/13)

HAPPY CAMPERS
Brian Wilson (featured performer), Billy Hinsche (camp counselor), Jeffrey Foskett (musical director), and other members of Brian's supporting band (Darian Sanahaja, Scott Bennett, and Probyn Gregory) will be taking part in this year's Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp in Las Vegas, NV. THE SMILE SESSIONS WINS GRAMMY AWARD
The Beach Boys' The Smile Sessions (Deluxe Box Set) has been given a Grammy Award for Best Historical Album. Congratulations go out to the producers (Alan Boyd, Mark Linett, Brian Wilson, and Dennis Wolfe), as well as to The Beach Boys, the session musicians, and everyone who helped put this very special package together. TWO LANE BLACKTOP RELEASE ON DVD/BLURAY
Two Lane Blacktop, the 1971 cross-country road race cult film, starring Dennis Wilson, James Taylor, and others is getting the deluxe reissue treatment from Criterion on both DVD and BluRay. The Bamboo Trading Company consists of Gary Griffin, Randell Kirsch, Matt Jardine, Philip Bardowell, Chris English, and Miami Dan Yoe.
