blue square dot Beach Boy Bruce Johnston has rejoined the tour with Mike Love in time for the November U.K. shows. Bruce underwent cardiac bypass surgery on September 10. Fans wishing to send him a message should visit the Beach Boys Britain message board, where Bruce visits regularly. (Updated 11/2/04)

blue square dot The Pop & Sizzle! California music showcase was held on Sunday, August 15, at the famous Troubadour Club in Los Angeles. The lineup featured many people associated with the Beach Boys, including David Marks, Carl B. Wilson and Justyn Wilson (of In Bloom), musical director Bobby Figueroa, Scott Bennett, Taylor Mills, Matt Beckley, Alan Boyd, and poet/lyricist Stephen Kalinich. blue square dot Brian Wilson was honored with the 2004 BMI Icon Award at the 52nd annual BMI Pop Awards dinner on May 11 at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles. Brian performed “Sloop John B” and “Help Me Rhonda,” while Wilson Phillips saluted him with their rendition of “In My Room.” (update 5/18/04)

blue square dot Brian Wilson and family appeared in the Tournament of Roses Parade on January 1, 2004, with Brian, Melinda, Daria and Delanie riding in a woody made of flowers for the city of Ontario, CA. (updated 1/26/04)

IN MEMORIAM, 2004:
We are very saddened to learn of the passing of longtime Beach Boys' friend and musical cohort Jan Berry, of Jan & Dean fame, on March 26, 2004, one week shy of his 63rd birthday. BBFC sends our condolences to Jan's family and to his musical partner Dean Torrence. A special Guest Book (book of condolences) has been set up for Jan's fans and friends to leave messages. BBFC is also saddened to hear of the passing of Terry Melcher, on Nov. 19, 2004, at the age of 62, following a lengthy battle with melanoma. Terry was producer for several of the Beach Boys' later recordings, a cowriter on “Kokomo,” and long-time musical partner of BB Bruce Johnston. Our condolences got out to Terry's family and friends, and especially to Bruce. (11/21/04)
